How to grow your own
The agricultural technology of Fabina f1 is no different from the cultivation of other hybrids. It will not be possible to prepare the seeds yourself, since this is a hybrid and not a varietal crop. When purchasing Fabina f1 seeds in a specialized store, pay attention to the timing of their use.
Before sowing, it is better to warm the seeds for 4 hours at a temperature of 25-30 °C or 40 minutes at 50 °C. Disinfection is not necessary - the manufacturer has already taken care of this. However, it is advisable to soak the material in a solution of a biogrowth stimulator.
Important! To grow Fabina f1 seedlings, choose fertile soil with a neutral reaction. If you use heavy soil, eggplants may get sick. Soil taken from the garden will be ideal if you add a little ash, sand, peat and humus to it. For 2 parts of soil you need to take 1 part of humus.
The timing of sowing seeds depends on growing conditions and region of residence.. For greenhouses this is the end of January or all of February. For open ground - 60-65 days before planting them in the garden.
Growing seedlings
Since eggplants do not like transplanting, It is better to plant the seeds immediately in individual garden cups. 3-4 seeds are planted in one container to a depth of 0.5-1 cm. Watered with water at room temperature as the soil dries. Shoots will appear in 7-12 days. If several seeds sprout in one glass, then leave the strongest sprout, and cut off the rest.
When planting seeds in boxes, seedlings require picking. It is carried out when the seedling has 3-4 true leaves. After 10-12 days, the seedlings are fed: 30-40 g of superphosphate or 200 g of wood ash are added to 10 liters of water.
Transfer
1.5-2 weeks before disembarkation Fabins f1 to a permanent place, seedlings are hardened at a temperature of 15-17 ° C.To do this, it is taken out into the greenhouse or into the open air, if weather conditions permit.
When the threat of frost has passed, they begin to plant eggplants in a permanent place. This hybrid has a huge advantage: it tolerates cool weather and temperature changes well.
Further care
2 weeks after planting, seedlings are fed a solution of mullein or chicken droppings with the addition of wood ash. You can use mineral fertilizers: urea, potassium salt, superphosphate. Repeated feeding is carried out 3 weeks after the first.
Since the Fabin f1 hybrid is short, can withstand a planting pattern of 40x80 cm. This is enough for good growth of eggplants and their ventilation.
The hybrid is moisture-loving, it is watered 2 times a week. A crust should not be allowed to form on the soil; it should be loosened after watering. To prevent the soil from drying out and cracking, it is better to mulch it with mowed grass. This way the moisture will remain longer. But you shouldn’t over-moisten the soil either. Water should not get on the leaves; the plants are watered at the roots.
Attention! Fabina f1 loves warm water. Watering with cold (from a borehole or well) water can cause plant disease.
Remove weeds regularly, which take moisture and nutrients from the soil.
Diseases and pests
Eggplant diseases may occur due to improper agricultural practices.:
- late blight occurs when there is excess moisture - it is necessary to remove diseased leaves and treat them with a biological product;
- anthracnose appears when this crop is planted in the same place for several years, so you need to follow the rules of crop rotation;
- white rot, or sclerotinia, occurs in cases of overmoistening or planting eggplant in unheated soil - it helps to remove and destroy the affected plants by watering the roots with a 0.5% solution of copper sulfate.
Like any eggplant, Fabina f1 is affected by pests:
- The Colorado potato beetle, which loves all nightshade crops, can land on a bush, breed and “gnaw” the plants. If this happens, use chemicals. But if the planting volumes are small, you can inspect the bushes daily and remove the pest and masonry manually.
- Spider mites can severely damage a plant. It is not immediately noticeable, since the mite settles on the back of the leaf, multiplies quickly, makes invisible holes and covers the plant with cobwebs. The eggplants are wilting. If the process does not take long, then first try cleaning the diseased leaves with a weak soap solution. If this does not help, you will have to use insecticides.

Harvesting and application
Fabina f1 eggplants are harvested at the technical maturity stage. Selectively cut with garden pruning shears once every 7 days with a stalk 2-3 cm long. Ripe fruits should have dense, elastic pulp without voids, with white underdeveloped seeds. You cannot delay harvesting; overripe eggplant may lose its elasticity and its flesh will darken.
Hybrid has good keeping quality. If you store eggplants in a cool and dry place, their valuable qualities can last from 2 weeks to 2 months.
Fresh eggplants are rarely eaten.They can be salted, dried, stuffed, fried, stewed, frozen, canned, made into salads, sauteed, caviar, and used as a side dish.
Fabina f1 eggplants are rich mineral salts of phosphorus, calcium, potassium, manganese, magnesium, iron, aluminum. They contain vitamins B1, B2, B5, carotene, tannins.
When eating eggplants blood cholesterol levels decrease. This vegetable is recommended for patients suffering from atherosclerosis, liver diseases, and gout.
Advantages and disadvantages of a hybrid
Hybrid Fabina f1 has a number of advantages over other types:
- does not require additional support for the bush;
- early and friendly ripening of fruits;
- long fruiting period;
- unpretentious to temperature conditions;
- not susceptible to diseases;
- beautiful appearance of the fruit;
- almost complete absence of seeds;
- good keeping quality.
The disadvantages of a hybrid include the presence of thorns on the calyxes of the fruit and demands for watering.
Reviews from those who grew
Summer residents are satisfied with the yield and taste of the hybridwhat they say in their reviews.
Victor, Rostov region: “The hybrid is distinguished by its super-yielding and early ripeness, without the frequency of fruiting - just have time to harvest the ripe fruits so as not to delay the development of new ovaries. Eggplants without bitterness, very tasty and tender".
Svetlana, Tula: “This year I’m growing eggplants for the first time. I've been collecting Fabin F1 eggplants for 2 weeks now. I liked the taste, no bitterness, and the skin is thin, it doesn’t interfere at all when frying or stewing.”.
Conclusion
Even a small number of planted eggplant bushes will allow you to enjoy the abundance of the harvest and make provisions for future use for the whole family. Fabina f1 will delight you with fruiting until frost.
